We received a new baby this afternoon. I'm not sure of all the details, but he was abandoned and found this morning. The police brought him here a couple of hours ago. Dr. Neil and I both guessed he's about 3-4 weeks old.
He smelled really bad when he arrived and was covered in dirt and dust. Elsie gave him a bath and scrubbed all the dust out of his hair. She put a clean blue sleeper on him, and we gave him the once over. He seems perfectly healthy except for an inguinal hernia and an umbilical hernia. We don't know his HIV status yet.
I gave him a bottle of formula, and he ate very well. Then I rocked him for a while, and he fell asleep in my arms. I'm so glad to know he's going to be safe and well cared for here at Lighthouse.
