Lion Park

This morning at 9am, we left Lighthouse to go to the Lion Park. Our group included Janis, Lorinda, me, Sarah, Charity, and 7 of the older kids. When we first arrived, our guide took us into a fenced-in area where there were several lion cubs. You could pet them and hold them, but sometimes they would start to get a little too playful! Here is a picture of our group with one of the lion cubs.

And here's one of me with a lion cub!

After spending some time with the littlest lions, we followed our guide to several other fenced-in areas where we saw 3-5 month old lions, 5-8 month old lions, 1-2 year old lions, and then, of course, the huge adult lions. Our guide was very knowledgeable and told us some really interesting facts about lions. For example, did you know that adult lions only eat once a week? They spend the majority of their time sleeping and usually only spend 30 minutes to an hour eating each week.

After our visit to the Lion Park, we drove to McDonald's for lunch, and the kids were able to play on the outdoor playground. I spent most of the time there sitting very still trying not to get stung by a bee. Poor Phemelo, who is 4 years old, got stung on the tongue after a bee crawled into his straw. He spent a little while sitting on my lap while I pointed out trucks and motorcycles to him, and then he seemed to feel better.
